Maggie Tseng is a Taiwanese American artist based in Los Angeles. Working through the frameworks of alchemy, astrology, and myth, her practice positions each painting as a site of ontological inquiry, where the self is continually reconstituted into evolving facets of her philosopher’s stone. Balancing inherited systems of symbolism with a personal search for coherence, and negotiating the relationship between body and cosmos, Tseng’s practice dwells in processes of transformation, guided by wonder, play, and imagination.

 

Maggie Tseng received her BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2019. Her work has been featured in exhibitions including Visionary Art Collective: Radiant Voices and Brea Gallery, as well as publications such as Hexentexte and Booooooom’s Array Vol. 3. She was recently longlisted for the Folio Society Book Illustration Award.
